The Edubuntu Team is proud to announce the beta release of Edubuntu 10.10, codenamed the Maverick Meerkat. Edubuntu 10.10 builds on the Ubuntu tradition of integrating the latest and greatest open source technologies into a high-quality, easy-to-use Linux distribution.

Latest Development Release

This is a development snapshot of the Edubuntu 10.10 release that is scheduled for the 10th of October 2010, or 10/10/10. The beta is not intended for production or general-purpose use, but is available as a preview of what to expect in the final release.

Latest Updates

Software updates include the new Gnome 2.31, a much speedier Evolution 2.30.2, the awesome and fast Shotwell photo manager application, a faster and smoother boot experience and Ubuntu One has received a whole lot of polish. Edubuntu now includes Gnome Nanny, which is parental control software written for the Gnome Desktop Environment. Since our last development release, we're also including a new and fun Periodic Table Breakout wallpaper, which the author specifically relicensed so that we could use it! The OEM installer mode is also now available in Edubuntu, which has been unavailable in previous releases.

The Beta release is available for download immediately on the Ubuntu CD image server for 32bit and 64bit platforms.
